Victory of Philip Augusts at Bouvines. Initial assertions of national unity. The Battle of Bouvines is took place on 27th July, 1214, It was a medieval battle which ended the twelve year Angevin-Flanders War. This was a fundamental in the early development of France in the middle Ages by confirming the French crown's sovereignty over the Angevin land of Brittany and Normandy.
