The Battle of Bouvines is took place on 27th July, 1214, It was a medieval battle which ended the twelve year Angevin-Flanders War. This was a fundamental in the early development of France in the middle Ages by confirming the French crown's sovereignty over the Angevin land of Brittany and Normandy.

Hugh Capet , French Hugues Capet (Born 938—Died -October 14, 996, Paris, France), Seizes power after a coup d’ètat . He establishes a royal dynasty by direct male line, the Capetians. Photo credit [ Wikimedia] He was the  eldest son of Hugh the Great, duke of the Franks.  At the age of 18 , he lost his father .  Hugh Capet inherited vast estates in the regions of Paris and OrlĂ©ans , extending in some places south of the Loire River .  . He thus became one of the most powerful vassals in the kingdom and a serious danger to the Carolingian king, Lothar. Hugh married Adelaide, daughter ofWilliam III , duke of Aquitaine, in 970, but his efforts to extend his influence into that southwestern kingdom were unsuccessful. From 978 to 986 Hugh was allied with the German emperors Otto II and Otto III and with Adalbero, archbishop of Reims, in political intrigues against the Carolingian king. Treaty of Verdun ( Verdun-sur-Meuse ,  August 843): The Carolingian Empire is divided between Ch arlemagne's grandsons . West Francia covered most of modern France. Charles the Bald is first king of France. The concept of “the Franks” was not just about a specific group but related more to a group that agreed to Frankish rule. Ethnic categories re-emerged during the 830′s. The Carolingian period was an important period for the process of promoting Frankish names and identity. Prayers for the kingdom were said for the king, and the Frankish army. Literature of this time celebrated not just the King but the Frankish community.
